INTERACTIVE REALTIME
Realtime is the instant translation of the spoken word into written form by a court reporter. It allows a court reporter’s keystrokes to instantly translate into English and appear on a laptop screen. The court reporter can also send the realtime feed to the attorney's computer for instant access to the translation.
At Rennillo, we report every deposition in realtime.
HOW DOES REALTIME BENEFIT ME?
- How many times have you thought you heard an answer at deposition only to see it differently when the written transcript arrived? We perceive things in writing more clearly. Realtime lets you instantly confirm testimony when it is given.
- The quality of your court reporter is readily apparent by their ability to have their key strokes “translate” into English. Only the best reporters can write in realtime.
- Since the transcript appears on your reporter’s screen, it is available for witness reference and clarification of the questions when controversies arise.
- Realtime saves time by avoiding lengthy read-back by the reporter.
- The quality of the realtime transcript allows for access to rough drafts for witness preparation and briefing at a less expensive rate than an expedited certified transcript.
- A qualified realtime reporter is essential to enable the attorney to use interactive realtime software to view and digest the transcript at the deposition.
Through a variety of software, including LiveNote, Summation, E-Binder and Caseview, the attorney is able to annotate and flag key portions of testimony for automated transcript digesting and indexing.
WHAT DO I NEED TO USE INTERACTIVE REALTIME?
- The attorney must have a laptop computer at the deposition.
- The attorney must have realtime software preloaded on their computer.
- The computer must have a nine-pin serial port or a
nine-pin to USB converter.
- The laptop should be tested prior to the time of the realtime deposition.
To make sure your laptop is realtime capable, contact us and we’ll arrange a complimentary realtime session prior to your next deposition.
